The BC Blueberry Council has represented BC’s blueberry growers since 1996, driving market development, research, food safety and compliance.
The BC Blueberry Council has represented the province’s blueberry growers since 1996, with work spanning market development, research, food safety and compliance. Grower registrations, certifications and compliance documents needed one trusted, auditable record. Packers had no direct way to find certified growers by region, certification or product. Event attendance and Blue Card rewards were tracked by hand, and communication between growers, packers and Council staff was spread across channels. On top of that, the brand and website needed a refresh, and the Council wanted one partner to run its marketing and trade shows rather than several.
A commodity council speaks to several audiences at once. Growers need practical tools and plain information they can use around farm work. Packers and buyers want supply they can verify. Trade and public audiences respond to the story of the crop. Food safety and compliance add record-keeping that has to stand up to an audit. In farming communities where many languages are spoken, material published only in English can miss part of the membership, and trade shows remain an important face-to-face channel.

Challenges we see
in Government, agriculture & industrial
- 01
Growers and members still phone for forms, dates and updates.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITA member portal holding each person’s documents, training and notices, offered in more than one language where your members need it. - 02
Food safety and compliance records live in binders and spreadsheets.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITSecure portals that store documents, reminders and sign-offs, with a log of who changed what, ready for an audit. - 03
Harvest season leaves no time to market the business.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITContent produced ahead of the season and scheduled, so your site, social and buyer emails stay active while crews are in the field. - 04
Buyers can’t picture our operation or equipment from the website.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITPhotography and video on the farm, in the plant or on site, plus clear product and capability pages written for wholesale buyers.
Several things at once. Registrations, certifications and compliance documents needed one auditable record, packers could not easily find certified growers, Blue Card rewards and event attendance were tracked by hand, and messages between growers, packers and staff moved across many channels. The Council also needed a refreshed brand and website, and a single partner for marketing and trade shows.
A full rebrand, a redesigned website available in 11 languages including Punjabi, Chinese and French, and media production covering photography, video and social content. We plan trade show presence and handle all marketing, with a fractional marketing manager working alongside Council staff. The portal has grower, packer and admin sides, with Blue Card points and tiers, training modules, a document vault with expiry tracking, levy reporting, approvals and audit logs.
Figures as shown on the live portal: 600+ registered growers, 50+ training modules and 3 role-based portals for growers, packers and admin. The Council now has one centralized source of record for growers, packers and staff, cleaner and auditable registrations, certifications and compliance documents, and a packer-grower marketplace that supports market development.
If your members, buyers and staff all rely on the same records, a role-based portal can bring that work into one place. The right features depend on your own rules: what you certify, what members report and what each group needs to see. We would start by mapping those workflows with your staff, then build only what your organization will actually use.
