- Website redesign around dispatch, membership and training information.

Boilermakers Lodge 359 is a local lodge of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, with its union hall in Langley, BC.
The lodge’s website has to serve members first. The lodge wanted dispatch and job information that members can find fast on any phone, and clear routes to membership, apprenticeship and training, and benefits. Moving to a new site could not break what already worked, so old links and search results had to keep pointing to the right pages. The lodge also wanted a site its own staff could update.
A union lodge’s website is mostly a working tool rather than a sales page. Members come back to it for practical, time-sensitive information, and they often look it up on a phone, away from a desk. People thinking about a trade, or about starting an apprenticeship, want to find the right route quickly and know who to contact. That puts the weight on clear navigation, plain wording, pages that load quickly and links that do not break, more than on persuasion.
What they needed
- Dispatch and job information members can find fast on any phone
- Clear routes to membership, apprenticeship and training, and benefits
- Old links and search results that keep working after the move
- A site lodge staff can update themselves
What we did
- A rebuilt website written from the lodge's existing content
- Redirects from the old addresses, so bookmarks and search results keep working
- Accessibility, speed and mobile layouts checked on every page
- A WordPress theme lodge staff can update

Growers and members still phone for forms, dates and updates.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITA member portal holding each person’s documents, training and notices, offered in more than one language where your members need it. - 02
Food safety and compliance records live in binders and spreadsheets.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITSecure portals that store documents, reminders and sign-offs, with a log of who changed what, ready for an audit. - 03
Harvest season leaves no time to market the business.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITContent produced ahead of the season and scheduled, so your site, social and buyer emails stay active while crews are in the field. - 04
Buyers can’t picture our operation or equipment from the website.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT ITPhotography and video on the farm, in the plant or on site, plus clear product and capability pages written for wholesale buyers.
What we used.
Four things: dispatch and job information members can find fast on any phone; clear routes to membership, apprenticeship and training, and benefits; old links and search results that keep working after the move; and a site lodge staff can update themselves.
It was rebuilt and written from the lodge’s existing content, with redirects from the old addresses so bookmarks and search results keep working. Accessibility, speed and mobile layouts were checked on every page, and it runs on a WordPress theme lodge staff can update. The work covered website redesign, WordPress development and content migration.
Not yet. The new website is built and in review with the lodge before launch. Because it is not live, there are no results to report. Results will be measured once the site is live and added to this case after launch.
It can, where members rely on the site for time-sensitive information and the organization wants its existing links to keep working. Which pages matter most and what staff need to edit will differ for each group. This project is still in review, so treat it as an example of the approach rather than proof of results.
More work with results like these.
