- Cloud inspection management platform for non-destructive testing (NDT) companies.

NDT Pilot is inspection workflow software developed and operated in Canada, for inspection service providers and industrial asset owners.
NDT Pilot was designed around specific failures: technicians could be dispatched without a valid certification for the inspection method, instruments reached site with expired calibration, field reports were lost to poor signal or closed browsers, reports went in missing readings, photos or declarations, and requests, scope, reports and invoices were retyped across emails and spreadsheets. Each of those gaps is a quality or audit risk for a non-destructive testing company, and the platform had to close them inside one connected system.
Non-destructive testing is judged on evidence. Asset owners choose inspection providers on certified technicians, method capability, procedures and the quality of the reports they receive, and providers choose software the same way: it has to stand up to an audit. Buyers in this field are technical and often sceptical of software claims, so marketing has to explain workflows in their own terms, show how certification, calibration and review are handled, and be honest about what is available today and what is still planned.
The problem
- Technicians could be dispatched without a valid certification for the inspection method
- Instruments reached site with expired calibration
- Field reports were lost to poor signal or closed browsers
- Reports were submitted with missing readings, photos or declarations
- Requests, scope, reports and invoices were retyped across emails and spreadsheets
What we built
- Assignment checks each technician’s certified methods, level and expiry before dispatch
- Only in-service, calibrated equipment can be selected for an inspection
- Offline-first field forms that save on the device and sync when back in coverage
- Section-by-section validation before a report can be submitted
- Exception-first technical review, signed approval and controlled release
- Customer portal for requests and approved reports, plus connected invoicing
The platform today
- One connected record from first request to approved report and invoice
- A full, auditable review and approval trail

What we used.
Uncertified dispatch, out-of-calibration instruments, field reports lost in poor coverage, incomplete report submissions, and the same request, scope, report and invoice being retyped across emails and spreadsheets. The aim was one connected record from the first request to the approved report and invoice.
The 2026 project covered product design, web app development and a marketing site. Inside the platform, assignment checks each technician’s certified methods, level and expiry before dispatch, and only in-service, calibrated equipment can be selected. Field forms save on the device and sync when coverage returns. Reports are validated section by section, then pass through exception-first technical review, signed approval and controlled release, with a customer portal and connected invoicing.
12 connected workflow stages, 16 platform modules and 10 NDT methods supported, among them UT, RT, MT, PT, PAUT and TOFD. These describe the platform itself rather than business results. NDT Pilot labels each module Available, Partially available or Planned, so buyers can see what is ready now. The outcome is one connected record with a full, auditable review and approval trail.
Any business where work must be done by qualified people, with checked equipment, and signed off before release faces similar workflow questions. Whether a custom platform makes sense depends on your volume, your existing tools and how strict your audit requirements are. It is a substantial build, so the honest first step is mapping your current workflow and deciding what actually needs to change.
